To promote safety and comfort for all, we expect individuals to act appropriately at all times in a mature and responsible way, and to respect the rights and dignity of others when they are in our facilities or participating in our programs. The YMCA of Greater Hartford reserves the right to refuse service, suspend or cancel a membership at our discretion if actions or behaviors are not deemed in the best interest of the organization.
MEMBERSHIP:
Your membership includes one complimentary Wellness Assessment with a Personal Trainer. In this session, your trainer will assist you in determining your baseline fitness, setting smart goals and creating a simple workout plan to make your wellness journey a success. GUEST PASSES: Members can bring a guest for a complimentary visit at their Home Branch up to 3 times per year. The number of individual visits is unlimited. Guest Passes renew each calendar year. Guests over 16 years of age must bring a photo Id. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an Adult Member throughout the facility.
CANCELLING your Membership: The cancellation process can be completed using the same method used to enroll. No additional fees will apply to cancellations. Membership cancellations will be accepted through email, in person or online by logging into your account.
HOLDING your Membership: We can HOLD your Membership without dues for up to 3 consecutive months once per year with a completed YMCA HOLD Form.
ATTIRE:
Indecent attire is prohibited. Offensive or derogatory graphics or language are not permitted.
Closed toe, non-marking athletic shoes are required in all workout areas.
Proper designated swim attire must be worn in the pool and spa areas.
GROUP EXERCISE:
Registration is required for all classes. Please visit (https://www.ghymca.org/health-and-fitness/group-exercise-classes) or download the App by searching YMCA of Greater Hartford in the app store. When creating a login, please make sure to use the email address associated with your YMCA membership.
Children over 10 can take some group exercise classes with a parent. Please check with the Wellness Team to see if the classes are age appropriate. Age 13 and up can attend classes on their own.
WELLNESS CENTER:
Please wipe down all equipment before and after use. Spray bottles and paper towels are available at stations throughout the center.
Children ages 8 – 11 are allowed in the wellness center but MUST always be accompanied by a parent. Wellness Center Orientations are required.
Personal Training Packages are available for purchase. Sessions are subject to cancellation and expiration policies.
Bags are not allowed in the Wellness Center or Gymnasium. Please make use of the lockers. We recommend that you bring a lock to secure your belongings in the locker rooms while using the facility.
Chalk is not allowed in the Wellness Center.
Cell phone use is limited to music and workout apps. No photos or videos are allowed. No personal phone calls allowed in the Wellness Center.
AQUATICS:
Please shower before using the pools and bring your own towel.
The Steam Room, Sauna and Hot Tub are for members 16 and older. No exceptions.
Children 16 and under must take a swim test with the lifeguard on duty in accordance with our Test. Mark. Protect. Policy.
Children ages 5 and younger must always have a parent in the pool with them. Ages 6-12 must have a parent on the pool deck.
We are required to close the pool area if there is lightning or thunder within 10 miles of the facility.
Private lessons are subject to expiration and 24-hour notice is required to cancel a scheduled private lesson.
* Wilson-Gray branch does not have a pool.
KIDs ZONE:
There is a 2-hour limit per day. The parent must remain in the building.
No food is allowed, and our staff does not diaper.
OTHER:
All members and participants are required to have their photos taken when they enroll as a member or program participant at the YMCA. Photos are only used for the protection and safety of our members and participants. Photos on member/participant profiles allow the YMCA to screen all members/participants through the National Sex Offender Registry to ensure the safety of the children in our buildings. Photos also ensure that the individual who is checking into the Y is the proper person on the membership and also allows us to be able to positively identify you in case of an emergency.
Please bring your own lock for use in the locker rooms. Do not leave your belongings in a locker overnight. Lockers are available for rent at our Farmington Valley and Downtown branches.
Youth ages 12 to 17 years of age, who are members of the YMCA, are permitted to be in the building by themselves.
No cell phone use in the Locker Rooms.
Animals may not be left in vehicles parked in Y parking lots at any time.
No spitting anywhere in the facility.
No foul language.
No sexual gestures, activity or sexual contact with another person.
Steam room, Sauna, Hot Tub: Please keep conversations family appropriate. DO NOT USE oils or lotions. No shaving or personal grooming. No food or beverage other than water allowed. No cell phones.
Please clean up spills (powder and liquid) and alert staff to any hazards.
Please provide up to date email contact information so that we can alert you to class cancellations, weather closures, and major events (power outages).

TOBACCO products, including VAPE products, Alcohol and Drugs are expressly prohibited on the property. Violation of this policy is terms for immediate Membership cancellation.
Use of non-prescription drugs, alcoholic beverages, firearms or fireworks, carrying or concealing a weapon or any object that may be used as a weapon, harassment or intimidation by words, gestures or body language, bullying or threatening another person verbally or physically is prohibited on YMCA property, in YMCA vehicles or at YMCA sponsored events.
