Basketball Training

We help young athletes reach their personal potential and achieve their athletic goals. Our coaches create workout programs that focus on the individual needs of each athlete. Whether you need help with your shot or your defense, whether you’re a big man or a guard, we are confident our trainers will teach skills that give players an advantage on the court.

Beginner Basketball (Age 3 - Grade 3)

The fundamental skills of basketball, the spirit of sportsmanship and competition is the ultimate goal.  Each practice will be followed by a 30 minute game.

Elite Clinics

YMCA Elite Clinics conducts quality, high-intensity, drill based clinics that focus on not only bettering a players skill set on the court but also building character and confidence off the court. These clinics will strengthen your athlete's mentality while bossing their confidence to become more aggressive and skilled players. Our clinics will provide a focused, fun learning environment that cannot be rivaled. Sign up for one or all! There is an opportunity to win prizes at the end of each clinic. Free Connecticut Sun Basketball Clinic

Connecticut Sun star Chiney Ogumike, the 2014 number 1 WNBA draft pick, will lead students in 1.5 hours of basketball instruction, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A and autographs. TJ Faeth, the youth development director for the West Hartford YMCA, will work with his staff to assist the children in learning about passing, ball handling, shooting and defense.
The event is free and open to children of all ages and ability so that the youth in our community can learn to play basketball with the organization that started it all.

Youth Basketball (AGES 2 - 13)

Y Basketball classes supply the perfect opportunity for your child to get fit, make new friends and develop fundamental basketball skills.  They may not be able to dunk, but they'll learn motor skills, hand-eye coordination and most of all good sportsmanship and how to be a team player!
