Archery

Archery (Ages 7-16)

Have fun and learn to shoot with a certified Archery instructor. Students will learn proper form, technique, and terminology as well as scoring and range safety. This is a beginner/intermediate class with all equipment provided.

Intermediate Archery (ages 7 & Up)

For those who have taken our intro class, the intermediate class will introduce the most advance single cam compound bow, provide new shooting techniques and practice correct handling and use of equipment. The instructor will continue to instill focus, self-control and patience; components that tie into everyday life lessons which build confidence, motivation and performance, allowing children to be on target for life.

Rookies Basketball

Participants use junior-size basketballs to learn fundamentalkills, including dribbling, passing and shooting. An emphasis is also placed on teamwork and fair play. Skill and drill stations are followed by a modified game each week.

The Indian Valley YMCA, in collaboration with the First Tee of Connecticut, work to Impact, influence & inspire young people across the state through the game of golf! Participants will be exposed to the game of golf and its associated positive youth development in a fun, activity-based program focusing on Putting, Chipping, Pitching & Full Swing principles.

What better way to introduce your children to a sport than to play it with them? Come share your enthusiasm with your child and help them to develop an enjoyment of the game. Children will be introduced to the basics of soccer. All children and parents should come dressed to play and have fun!

YMCA puts the FUN in fundamentals. Our youth soccer program focuses on team work, basic soccer skills, and emphasizes the importance of physical fitness. Each session will include warm up exercises, guided instruction and a modified game.

Rookies T-ball (Ages 3-6)

YMCA T-Ball programs teach each child the basics of baseball to help them grow as players, all while encompassing the fun that comes standard with YMCA programs. Players develop skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-confidence and a love for the game. Skill development will cover the fundamentals of throwing, catching, batting, base running, game rules and etiquette. Games will be played without the emphasis on competition, but rather on creating a memorable, fun, and rewarding experience for all involved.
