01 Fun In The Sun (Ages 3-4 years)

If you are looking for a half-day program or full day program for your beginning campers, F.I.T.S. is the place to be! Age-appropriate activities provide ample exploration of what camping is all about. All activities are run by highly trained counselors who model the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

02 Nipmunks (entering grades k-2)

Day camp is a whole new experience for younger campers.  Nipmunk campers will be introduced to the adventure of camp while getting the special attention younger campers need.  All activities are designed with the interest of the younger camper in mind.  All activities are run by highly trained counselors who model the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

03 Chippewas (entering grades 3-5)

Chippewa campers enjoy choosing among a variety of age appropriate and fun activities. Activities are more challenging to capture the interest of our older campers.  Campers will have the opportunity to learn new skills and create friendships and memories.  All activities are run by highly trained counselors who model the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

04 Mohegans (entering grades 6-8)

Mohegan campers will enjoy the best of what Camp Indian Valley has to offer. Activities will be adapted to meet the needs and interests of our oldest campers. Campers will have the chance to take part in more challenging activities such as archery, low ropes course, hiking, shelter building, and leadership opportunities. All activities are run by highly trained counselors who model the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

05 LEADERS IN TRAINING (LITs) (ENTERING GRADES 9-10)

Our LIT program is designed for campers entering 9th and 10th grade who are interested in having fun while learning skills to be successful leaders and, possibly, camp counselors! LITs will spend part of each day working with counselors and staff to develop leadership skills, organizational skills, and team building. They are seen as leaders at the camp and will take an active role in running games and activities with campers. Highlights will be visits from UConn Career Center for team building workshops, as well as runnign the camp store and choice activity time. This is a two week progressive program that requires a pre-camp interview. Interview will be scheduled during the month of June.

06 Specialty & Enrichment Camps (entering Gr K-8)

Program camps are Camp Indian Valley's version of Specialty Camps.  These camps are designed to have the campers explore, grow and discouver new worlds while having fun.  All camps are age specific and are designed with the camper's interestes in mind.  Choose a program and watch your imagination soar!Program Camps are held at the Indian Valley Family YMCA, 11 Pinney St, Ellington, CT.All Camps are $235 unless otherwise noted.
 
Wacky Arts Camp
6/25-6/29 Session 2 (Gr. K-2)
Your child will discover new ways to express themselves! Campers are taught the skills and techniques needed to recreate their imagination using different art media.

Myth Busters Camp 
7/2-7/6 Session 3 (Gr. 5-8)
Do Mentos make soda explode? Can you cook and egg on the hot ground? Separate scientific myth from fract at Myth Busters Camp!

Animal Planet
7/9-7/13 session 4 (Gr. K-2)
Learn about your favorite animals! Campers investigate where animals live, sounds they make, foods they eat, and more. Creativity and imagination are needed as you go on an animal safari!

Jedi Training Academy
7/16-7/20 session 5 (Gr. 3-6)
While traveling to a galaxy far, far away, campers will learn the ways of the force, light-saber battling, an other mysteries of the empire!
 
Super Sports Camp 
7/23-7/27 session 6 (Gr. 3-8)
Ready to fulfill your dreams of playing in front of chearing fans? Campers will be taught the necessary skills of a new sport each day!
 
Archery Camp 
7/30-8/3 session 7 (Gr. 3-6)
Ready, aim, bulls-eye! Campers will gain experience with all the necessary equipment. Using re-curve bows, campers will learn to maintain and care for equipment, and improve their shooting skills!
 
Builders Club
8/6-8/10 session 8 (Gr. 3-6)
Love to build things? Campers will enjoy learning different types of fort construction and get hands-on with building blocks!
 
Spy Kids Camp
8/13-8/17 session 9 (Gr. K-2)
Can you solve camp's mysteries? In Spy Kids, campers break secret codes, solve puzzles, discover invisible messages, and develop detective skills!

01 QUINNIPIACS (ENTERING GRADES 1-2)

Camp Yankee Trails will be such a great introduction to outdoor camping for this group of youngest campers! Quinnipiac campers will be guided through the outdoors by our skilled and experienced counselors. Exploration of nature, arts & crafts, and small group games are highlights of the Quinnipiac campers' day.

02 CHEROKEES (ENTERING GRADES 3-5)

As campers get older, they are able to experience more of what our spectacular camp has to offer! Cherokee campers will gain the ability to try archery and boating. They will play larger team games, enjoy more advanced arts & crafts projects, and look deeper into what nature has to offer them.

03 PEQUOTS (ENTERING GRADES 6-8)

As our oldest group of campers, Pequots will have the opportunity to experience everything that Yankee Trails has to offer. They will explore almost every inch of our 100+ acres, and create larger craft projects such as shelter building.

05 Senior Camp Overnights @ Yankee Trails (Grades 6-10)

After our Family Night has ended, campers in our Pequot Village and our LIT's will have the opportunity to stay and sleep over at camp.  The campers will spend the night with friends around a campfire and sleep at Yankee Trails.  Sleepover night dates are July 6 and July 27.  Breakfast will be provided by the camp the next morning.  Please be sure to pack a lunch for the following day at camp.  All participants in the overnights must be registered for Camp Yankee Trails session 3 or 6.  There are only 20 spots available each night.  Call the Indian Valley Family YMCA for more details and to register.  860-871-0008

06 Yankee Trails Specialty & Enrichment Camps (Entering GR 3-8)

Our youth specialty camps are designed to provide campers with an array of theme-specific activities.  Specialty campers will participate in some traditional camping activities for part of the day and their specialty camp activities for the other part.  Specialty Camp activities are done from 9:00AM-4:00PM.

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced boater, this program is a great way to grow your boating skills. Campers will experience all aspects of canoeing while exploring Sweetheart Lake, including racing, obstacle courses and learning how to paddle a swamped boat. Campers must be able to swim freestyle and float on their back!
 
Culinary Creations Camp

Each day the campers will create delicious camp cuisine and learn about culinary arts. Using hot plates, camp fires, and other means; campers will develop their own recipes and creations.

07 Leaders in Training Program (LIT) (Ages 14-15/grades 9&10)

You can be a big hero to a little child! The LIT program is designed for 14 and 15 year olds interested in having fun while learning the skills to become a successful leader and possibly a counselor. This 2 week program will have leaders working with each other in team building activities, learning how to work with children, lesson planning, and sharing ideas.  This program is designed to be a progressive skill building adventure culminating with the leaders being a "counselor for a day."  All activities are led by a staff advisor.  All LIT's will have a pre-camp interview scheduled during June.
