Counselor In Training Programs

Counselor In Training I (C.I.T. I)

The YMCA Counselor In Training I, four week program, is a program designed to foster student interest in community development and leadership with children in a camp setting. This is an excellent opportunity for teenagers to build confi dence and have fun while learning the skills to become a successful leader and possibly a counselor. The program includes implementing camp curriculum, decision making, public speaking, problem solving, and teambuilding. A day in the life of a C.I.T. includes swimming, arts & crafts, field trips, fitness, creating a camp activity, community service, and leadership training. Upon successful completion of the Counselor In Training I, campers will receive C.P.R. certification, First aid certification, and be awarded a certificate of completion.

Days: Monday – Friday
Dates: 6/23 – 8/8
Location: Learning Corridor
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Ages:
13 – 15 years old
Camp Program Fee: $100.00 per week


Counselor In Training II (C.I.T. II)

This four week program is for teens who have successfully completed the C.I.T. I program. C.I.T. II’s display the YMCA character traits of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and are role models for all campers. C.I.T. II’s will not only participate in swimming, arts & crafts, fitness, field trips, implementing camp activity, and community service, but will also learn counseling skills, program development and the YMCA 40 Developmental Assets.. C.I.T. II’s will have the opportunity to shadow adult counselors, and CIT II’s are prime candidates for Junior Counselors and Counselors. The skills learned in this program are everlasting.

Ages:  13 – 15 years old

2008 YMCA Camp Open House
A camp open house will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 3:00 p.m. in the Learning Corridor.Our camp counselors and director will be there to answer any questions you might have. Trip information, sample activities, a camp day schedule and much more will be available.


Family Nights
Two family nights will be held this summer at our Learning Corridor camp location on July 18 and August 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for campers, parents and staff to get together for some YMCA family camp fun.
