Imagine thousands of the Capital Region's neediest kids being helped by the YMCA. The YMCA's Strong Kids Annual Campaign, allows children, adults and families to participate in everything the YMCA has to offer including child care, pre-school programs, day and overnight camp experiences, literacy classes, performing arts, model government events and water safety programs.
The Strong Kids Annual Campaign strengthens the YMCA of Greater Hartford's ability to provide values-based programs and activities to all in the region, regardless of their ability to pay.
"People often forget that the YMCA is first and foremost a charitable organization. The YMCA served over 107,000 people in the region in 2007, including 60,000 kids. The Strong Kids Annual Campaign is our main source of funding to bring services to kids and families who need it most," says Kevin Washington, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Hartford.
While the YMCA serves millions of people worldwide, donations to the Strong Kids Annual Campaign stay here in Greater Hartford. This year's campaign goal is $1 million and $355,000 has been raised already.
