Tell me what you
love about
What makes you come back year after
year?
'It's a windy day on Black Pond. The water is choppy, the trees are rocking. All is calm. Until suddenly...'
"YEAH!" An Advanced Sailor sails by, flying across the lake. The edge of the boat is under the water, the sailor leaning off the other side. He goes straight over the center of Black Pond, heading away from the boathouse, without even looking back. He's free. Free from his problems, free from his stress. THis is how he escapes from his problems, he sails away. He's glad to have a moment alone. He's so relaxed out there, though beginning sailors watch with admiration, wondering how he does that without hesitation. He just smiles at them, remembering watching someone sail by him like that, years ago. But they're gone now. He's by himself, just going where the wind blows. The wind turns, he turns. It slows, he slows. But it speeds up again, and he leans over the boat, smiling, flying over the water.
My name is Vinny, and this is why I go to Camp Woodstock every year, for the thrill of solo sailing.
