Meet Our Year-Round Leadership Team
Eric Tucker
Executive Director
Eric has over 15 years of experience working at camps and YMCAs in Idaho, Illinois, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. He is now a resident of Camp Jewell with his wife Erin and daughters Abigail and Emma. Eric holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree from Springfield College. Eric and his family enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, and traveling. eric.tucker@ghymca.org
Becky Barton
Outdoor Center Director
Becky Barton grew up in YMCA camping and has over 15 years of camp management experience. Becky earned her bachelor’s degree in child study and Spanish from Tufts University in Massachusetts. Becky is dedicated to building relationships with guests in her position as Outdoor Center Director. She and her husband Mo live at camp with their two boys Max and Kyle. As a family they enjoy hiking, catching frogs, playing in the snow, doing arts and crafts and singing. becky.barton@ghymca.org
Ray Zetye
Summer and Family Camp Director
Ray has spent over 18 years at Camp Jewell, starting as a young child at Family Camp. Ray holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management from Springfield College. Ray resides at camp with his wife Julia, a Veterinary Technician and graduate of Kent State University, along with their two dogs, cat, rabbit, and three horses. Julia serves as camp’s head Equestrian Coordinator during summer camp. ray.zetye@ghymca.org
Jodi Gove
Assistant Camp Director
International Staff & Ranch Programs
Jodi has been working with the YMCA since 2003 where she met and married Peter who also works at Camp Jewell. She graduated from Bethel University with a degree in Political Science and business. During the summer she oversees all aspects of our Ranch Camp. During the fall and spring she oversees all horseback riding activities while over the winter she is responsible for our draft horse program. During her free time she likes hiking, horseback riding, and reading. jodi.gove@ghymca.org
Aaron Stedfast
Assistant Camp Director
Conference and Retreat, Summer Day Camp & Counelors-in-Training
Aaron began his career at YMCA Camp Lincoln in Kingston, New Hampshire, and has been responsible for several camp programs since 1995. Aaron has extensive experience in childcare, teambuilding, and outdoor education. Some of Aaron’s favorite activities are hiking, skiing and white water rafting. aaron.stedfast@ghymca.org
Katie Jilek
Assistant Camp Director
Teambuilding, Trips & Senior Village
Katie has several years of teambuilding and outdoor education experience in both New York and Connecticut. Katie holds bachelor degrees in both Biology and Environmental Studies from St. Lawrence University. She enjoys kayaking, canoeing, and spending time with friends. katie.jilek@ghymca.org
Mario Hurtado
Property Director
Mario has over 16 years of experience working in nonprofit facilities management. He and his wife Darlene along with their daughters Makenzi and Chantal have enjoyed living at Camp Jewell for over 13 years. Camp Jewell has been a wonderful place for their daughters, now at Temple University and UConn, to grow up. Mario and his family love traveling to Mexico for family time, food, soaking in the sun, and snorkeling. mario.hurtado@ghymca.org
Kathie Reese
Office Manager
Kathie has been the Office Manager at Camp Jewell since June of 1983. She lives in Winsted with her husband Don. They have been married since 1969 and they have two sons, Brian and D.J. Kathie’s favorite pastime is being camp Grandmother to Max and Kyle Barton, Abigail and Emma Tucker and Peter Kamin, who now lives in Eastsound, Washington. kathie.reese@ghymca.org
Ken Jaffe
Dining Services Director
Ken started working for the YMCA in 1992 at Camp Hukins in New Hampshire. He then went to work at YMCA Camp Y-Noah in Akron, Ohio and YMCA Camp Hanes in North Carolina. Prior to working with the Y, Ken was the Food and Beverage Director at two northeastern ski resorts and was General Manager at a four star restaurant in Columbia, MD. He also had his own catering business in both Maine and Las Vegas. ken.jaffe@ghymca.org
