Leaders-In-Training (LIT) Program Age 15

Teens looking for an opportunity to develop skills for leadership positions at school, church, work, or camp will find our leadership development program extremely valuable. The Leaders-In-Training (LIT) program focuses on individual leadership development, teambuilding and self-discovery. Their active schedule includes time for both learning and practical application, as well as forming tight-knit friendships with a healthy dose of fun! Campers leave our LIT program more confident of their skills in public speaking, decision making, problem solving and in many other components of leadership.

During each two-week session campers participate in a short backpacking trip, our most challenging tandem high ropes course, several community service events outside of camp, and work together to plan and present one of camp's daily chapels.

Dates for 2008:

Session #1 June 22-July 5
Session #2 July 6-19
Session #3 July 20-August 2
Session #4 August 3-16

2008 Fee: $1,395

Orange Girls

Counselors-In-Training (CIT) Program Age 16

Our Counselors-in-Training program continues leadership development with a particular focus on leadership with children in a camp setting. Counseling skills, program development and other skills are all covered in a two-week training period. The CITs then have the opportunity to practice what they have learned as Day Camp counselors under the guidance and supervision of their adult counselors and our professional staff. The experience is a great way to begin working with children – many of our regular staff began their camp careers as CITs. Campers must be 16 years of age by the 3rd Sunday of the 4-week session to take part in this program.

CITs:

  • Assist and run Day Camp programs
  • Plan and run two All-Camp activities
  • Gain "Big Picture" insight by shadowing Resident Camp counselors, Village Coordinators, administrative and support staff
  • Participate in an overnight campout
  • Develop and implement their own community service project

Dates for 2008:

Session A (traditional camp sessions 1 and 2) June 22 – July 19
Session B (traditional camp sessions 3 and 4) July 20 – Aug. 16

2008 Fee: $1,450
