Camp Jewell Home >> Camp Programs >> Summer Resident Camps
Our nationally known resident camp program provides youth, ages 8-16, with an opportunity to build meaningful and lifelong relationships with fellow campers and staff. Campers become part of a dynamic camp community that fosters independence, skill building, and imparts positive values.
We pride ourselves on the diversity and professionalism of our staff, who often represent over 20 states and 15 different countries. Our 180 well trained staff ensure that the needs of our 365 campers are met. Our staff is carefully selected from our own Counselor-In-Training program or colleges around the country based upon their maturity and ability to be a positive role model for your child. Each camper lives in a cabin with 8-9 fellow campers and two staff members.
Campers enjoy several different skill clinics of their choosing. Clinics run Tuesday through Friday mornings the first week, and Monday through Thursday mornings the second week of each session. The duration of each clinic period varies.
Campers in traditional camp are assigned to cabin groups first by age and then by grade shortly before the session begins. Your camper may request one particular friend as a cabin mate. As making new friends is our goal, only on request per camper will be honored, and only if requested by both campers. If too many campers who know each other are all placed in the same cabin, it is very difficult for campers who come alone to make new friends.
Within the camp, cabin groups are clustered together into villages by age and gender. Each village has its own programs, activities, colors, and traditions. Villages are designed to challenge campers as they return from year to year. Villages are assigned solely by the camp director.
Bandits VillageGeared specifically for our youngest campers, the Bandit Village provides an introduction to the camping experience. Bandits have the opportunity to sample many different program areas as a cabin, as well as choose two clinic periods for the session. Our youngest campers also live closest to the main area of camp, have more down time to rest, and spend much more time with their counselors than in other villages. Bandits are required to take swim lessons each clinic day.
In the Nit Nois Village, campers are able to choose six clinic periods per session. Nit Nois campers may also participate in more advanced clinics such as mountain biking, climbing, dance, drama, guitar, kayaking, photography, advanced pottery, sailing, and water sports. Nit Nois also enjoy activities with their brother village, the Argonauts.
In the Argonauts Village, campers are able to choose six clinic periods per session. Argonauts may also participate in more advanced clinics such as mountain biking, climbing, dance, drama, guitar, kayaking, photography, advanced pottery, sailing, and water sports. Argonauts also enjoy activities with their sister village, the Nit Nois.
Utopian campers enjoy all of the activities of the Nit Nois campers, with the addition of mountain boarding, high ropes, and capture the flag. Utopians also enjoy a special program called “Eopia,” which is a daily program shared with the Ewok village.

Ewok campers enjoy all of the activities of the Argonaut campers, with the addition of mountain boarding, high ropes, and capture the flag. Ewoks also enjoy a special program called “Eopia,” which is a daily program shared with the Utopian village.
Senior campers spend their first week at camp participating in camp clinics and programs. During their second week, however, seniors embark on a four day adventure trip experience. Campers choose from backpacking, mountain biking, or canoeing. Trips are designed to be at an introductory level and staff spends time daily teaching skills prior to departure. Parents are mailed trip information before the session begins.
